Introduction
West Lake Longjing is the foremost of China's Ten Famous Teas, produced in the mountains surrounding West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The tea has a flat, smooth appearance with jade green color, lasting high fragrance, and a sweet, mellow taste.
The picking and production of Longjing tea is extremely meticulous. Tea picked around Qingming Festival is called 'Pre-Qingming Tea' and represents the finest grade of Longjing.

History
Longjing tea originated in the Song Dynasty and was designated as tribute tea during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Emperor Qianlong of Qing made six trips south of the Yangtze and visited Longjing tea areas four times. He designated eighteen tea trees in front of Hugong Temple as imperial tea trees.
